Many businesses struggle to understand healthcare claims, and how to approach employee health to curb those health-related costs and associated productivity costs to the company. A large international employer in the manufacturing industry was one such company.

We performed a CalcuL8™ analysis which identified their most costly lifestyle-related risk factors. In addition, productivity loss costs associated with these risk factors were identified. The CalcuL8™ report projected future healthcare-related costs for the company and provided break-even analysis scenarios and return-on-investment projections for interventions related to the company's eight most costly lifestyle-related risk factors. From this analysis, the company was able to realize the extent to which lifestyle-related health risks were influencing healthcare claims. Moreover, it was identified that the resulting productivity costs, such as absenteeism and disability, as well as presenteeism were costing the organization substantially in terms of lost opportunity cost. Using the recommended interventions and break-even-analysis projections, this company was able to address the most costly lifestyle-related risk factors and subsequently reduce their resulting healthcare claims and productivity loss costs.
